Privacy Policy

ScreenWise ("we," "us," or "our") operates a parental-control application that helps parents guide their children's digital habits. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights parents have over their family's data.

1. Who we collect data from

ScreenWise collects information from parents and legal guardians who create an account. We do not require children to provide personal information, and children do not create accounts. A parent or guardian creates a child profile on behalf of their child and controls all data associated with that profile.

2. Parental consent

ScreenWise requires a parent or legal guardian to create an account and configure a child profile before any child data is collected. Consent is obtained when a parent creates an account, adds a child profile, and configures monitoring settings. Parents may withdraw consent and request deletion of their child's data at any time from Account → Delete Account or by contacting us at the email listed below.

3. Information we collect

From parents:

• Name and email address (for account creation and communication)
• Payment information (processed securely by Base44 Payments / Stripe; we do not store full card numbers)
• Subscription and billing details (plan type, renewal dates)
• Device identifiers used to manage licensed devices

Child profile data (entered and controlled by the parent):

• Child's name (parent-assigned nickname) and age
• Screen-time usage metrics (time spent per platform, per day)
• Content-filter preferences and blocked-access alerts
• Goals, rewards, and lesson progress

4. What we do NOT collect

• We do not read, store, or transmit the content of children's messages, posts, or communications.
• We do not track children's precise location.
• We do not record keystrokes, browsing history beyond app-level time tracking, or media content.
• We do not sell personal information to third parties.

5. How we use information

• To provide screen-time monitoring, content filtering, and parental insights features
• To process subscription payments and manage device licenses
• To send parents alerts, weekly summaries, and account notifications
• To improve the product and provide AI-generated insights based on aggregate, de-identified usage patterns

6. Children's data handling & retention

Child profile data is stored under the parent's account and is accessible only to the parent (and account administrators for support purposes). We retain child usage data for as long as the parent's account is active. When a parent deletes a child profile or their entire account, the associated child data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Data sharing & third parties

We share data only with service providers who help us operate the app (e.g., payment processing, hosting, analytics), under written agreements requiring them to protect the data and use it solely for our purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

8. Parental rights

Parents have the right to:

• Review the personal information collected from their child
• Request correction or deletion of their child's data
• Refuse further collection of their child's information and withdraw consent
• Export their family's data in a portable format

9. Data security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. Payment data is handled exclusively by our PCI-compliant payment processors and is never stored on our servers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify parents of material changes via email and post the updated policy here with a revised "last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
